How To Place Metatarsal Pads
Metatarsal Pads Placement: Your How-to Guide
Stick it in Your Shoes
Metatarsal pads are used to help spread the transverse arch (the arch behind the ball of your foot). The key to placing met pads is to make sure they’re pressing into the space behind the ball of the foot, not under the ball of the foot. Placing the pad under the ball of the foot will be uncomfortable and could possibly worsen your condition. Met pads are commonly used by people who suffer from conditions such as: ball of foot pain, metatarsalgia, capsulitis and neuromas. 1 | Remove Liner/Insole from Shoe
If your shoes do not have a liner you may stick the met pad directly in to your shoe.
2 | Locate Your Target
Visualize or feel the impression of where the ball of your foot falls with inside your shoe.
3 | Match with Foot
You should feel the met pad gently press into the area behind the ball of your foot.
4 | Peel Back 1/4
Do not peel off the adhesive completely. Peel back one fourth of the adhesive to test the placement.
5 | Test Placement
Using the left met pad with your left shoe-liner, place the met pad on your target.
6 | Test in Shoe
You should feel the met pad gently press into the area behind the ball of your foot.
7 | Adjust if Needed
If the met pad feels a little bit off, gently move into the right position.
8 | Stick it Good
Once you have found the perfect placement, completely remove the backing of the adhesive and place the pad permanently.
9 | Repeat on Other Shoe
Repeat this process with the other met pad and shoe liner.
